At this innovation conference, Tianma demonstrated an eye-catching technology - Micro-LED seamless splicing screen. This display achieves a zero-bezel display. Specifically, it uses Tianma's unique GOA in AA backplane driver design, self-developed side wiring process and all-laser mass transfer process, ultimately achieving a bezel-less display.
Compared with traditional PCB products, this display screen uses TFT-based AM driver to achieve point-to-point control of pixels, which not only improves the picture quality but also eliminates the screen flicker problem. At the same time, the screen adopts an ultra-fine pitch design (Pitch=0.4mm), which can reduce or eliminate the physical seams between screens, realize free splicing between screens in the horizontal and vertical directions, and support diversified application scenarios, such as high-end TVs, video walls, home theaters, commercial displays, large car screens, etc.
Regarding the difficulties of Micro-LED innovation, Xi Kerui, deputy director of Tianma Microelectronics Micro-LED Research Institute, said in his sharing: The Micro-LED seamless splicing screen we released today is a zero-frame display. On the one hand, we use Tianma’s unique GOA (Gate on Active Area) backplane drive technology, a negative frame design is used on the substrate to reduce the frame width and achieve seamless splicing between cabinets; on the other hand, compared to the side cabling solutions of competitors, Tianma independently developed 3D coated side cabling technology, which can increase the efficiency of side cabling by three times and reduce the cost by about three times.
Xikrui added that the products displayed on site are samples in the development stage, and they have completed product development based on this sample. It will continue to iterate and improve in the future, and it is expected that more stunning seamless splicing products will be released together with partners next year.
Talking about Micro-LED's future development plan, Xikrui revealed that Tianma's Micro-LED production line plans to complete the lock-in of all processes by the end of this year and achieve full-process integration. Next year, the yield and efficiency will be improved based on the production line products, with the goal of achieving small batch shipments by the end of 2025.
